2010 Student Progress Update

Even these September rains can do little to cool off how hot our summer was here at the Derrick Payne School of Golf.   For my first blog entry, I'd like to give everyone an update on how our Tournament Training players spent their summer vacations.  I will use only their first names here to protect their online identities, but rest assured they will not be unknown to the general public for much longer!

The 2010 US Kids Golf Miami Summer Tour gave students the opportunity to play some fantastic golf clubs.  Competitors had the chance to play such prestigious and historic courses as Biltmore, Ocean Reef, Grande Oaks, LaGorce, and the tour championship at the newly renovated Jim McLean Signature course at Doral.  It would be impossible for me to say enough good things about Don Law and his staff for the dedication and hard work they put into running these great tournaments.  Thanks Don and my students will be back for the 2010 Fall Tour!

This summer marked the first taste of competition for Brandon and Anthony.  These guys played in a couple of tournaments and got markedly better each time they teed it up.  I'm extremely pleased with their progress and dedication to do even better this fall and beyond.  Daniela, Lauren, Levi, and Sean played in their second season of organized competition.  The results were nothing less than spectacular.  Our eldest competitor, Michelle, had her first taste of South Florida Junior PGA competition.  She never does as well as she expects, but there isn't a person on Earth that is tougher on themselves than Michi!

Daniela was the recipient of the Player of the Year in her age group, winning both the season long points race and a trip to Pinehurst for the 2011 US Kids World Championship!  Lauren finished the season a mere 10 points out of first place, but a solid 2nd place showing for the summer is fantastic!  Additionally, Levi finished in third place out of a long list of players in his age grouping.  Michelle had her career low round at The Biltmore, shooting a 74.  I am extatic to get to work with such wonderful students learning the game the right way.  Thank you all the players for allowing me to help you progress and, remember, this is just the beginning!

I'd like to end by congratulating all the students and their parents for their tremendous hard work and dedication to this great game.  Remember, behind every junior student is a loving family supporting them with every drive, chip,  and putt.  I look forward to continued progress throughout the newly launched 2010 US Kids Boca Raton Fall Tour and into the future!

For all perspective students, what are you waiting for?!?!?!  We have classes for juniors, adults, and families of all ages and abilities.  Your journey of a lifetime is just a phone call away!!!!
